      Natural Drums Release Notes

      v1.1.2

      We have fixed a crash that was related to older MacOS systems and systems using the intel architecture. This crash was happening usually moments after opening N-Drums.

      We also improved the stabiliity of the MIDIFX variant of N-Drums.

      • Bugfixes

        • BPM in audio exports was not exporting for tempos that were not multiples of 60

        • Fix a crash on older macs on starting the plugin

        • Fix a non determinitstic crash on N-Drums MIDIFX

      v1.1.0 Full Public Release

      Welcome to DAACI Natural Drums! We're delighted to launch this first public release. Natural Drums is now out of beta and is available for Windows and Mac with full features in place, including samples from our new partner, Spitfire Audio. 

      Thank you to our Open Beta Community for the incredible feedback, suggestions and support as we worked together on creating DAACI Natural Drums: your AI Co-Pilot for Drums. We hope you enjoy.


      New Features

      • We’ve included two sample packs from our partner Spitfire Audio. You can find ‘Animal', and '1975' in the menu 'LABS by Spitfire Audio’

      • You can discover more samples from our partner Spitfire Audio, directly from the samples menu. Follow the link in the plugin under the LABS by Spitfire Audio section to ‘Get More Drums on LABS’

      • Your favourite DAACI presets patterns are linked to a suggested Sample Pack

      v0.5.4 (Beta)

      • The play position is now highlighted in the upper 'Kick & Snare', 'Hats' and 'Fills' areas when the plugin is playing
      • The plugin now uses MIDI-THRU instead of an Off button

      v0.5.3 (Beta)

      New Features

      • Snapshots - Save multiple patterns inside Natural Drums to quickly compare and experiment with different ideas. Instantly move between drum patterns for different sections of your track without needing to open another window. You can also copy patterns between snapshots to quickly make variations on the same original idea. 
      • All new presets to help spark your creativity
      • Automation (you can now automate parameters like the fills swing and humanise)
      • The plugin is now installed in the System Library instead of the user libra

        Interface Improvements

      • New Compact mode layout with the MIDI preview visible.

      BREAKING CHANGES

      1. Patterns within projects, and presets saved with all previous versions of N-Drums (Intel) will not load properly after this version has been installed. This is also true for N-Drums (Apple Silicon) v0.1.8.1 and earlier. Please export any MIDI patterns you want to save before updating to the latest version.

        To do this, open N-Drums in the legacy version and click and drag the export button onto your timeline. You can now update N-Drums to the latest version.

      2. DAACI acoustic kits downloaded with N-Drums v0.5.1 must be manually deleted before upgrading to the latest version.

      v0.5.1 (Beta)

      New Features

      • Added acoustic samples recorded and mixed by DAACI
      • Added the ability to load a VST/AU within N-Drums so that you can use your favourite drum machine to play the N-Drums patterns.

      • Added a voice pool to prevent sample choking, now even more samples can be played at the same time.

      v0.4.5 (Beta) 

       

      NOW SUPPORTS WINDOWS: 

      • We recommend running DAACI Natural Drums (Beta) on Windows 10 or above.

      New Features

      • Compact Mode. This new mode offers a stripped back version of the controls, allowing you to very quickly experiment with different drum beat styles without needing to deep-dive into the finer details. With 4 sliders and a genre picker, this is a great place to start if you are new to drum programming, and you can always transition into the fully-featured version of Natural Drums if you would like more control. Thanks to our Open Beta Community users for your feedback and requests for this feature, especially Ollie!

      Improvements

      • Extended Ableton Live support. There used to be an issue regarding allowing the activation of the plugin in older versions of Ableton Live. We now support older versions of Ableton Live (even Ableton Live 10). 
      • Shuffle every loop now persists within the project. If you close a project and come back later, it now remembers if shuffle every loop was on. 
      • The samples are now cropped more precisely. Thanks to Open Beta Community member Lee who spotted a sample that was off by mere milliseconds - good catch!

      v0.3.4 (Beta)

      New Features 

      • Built-in DAACI drum samples! We've included a suite of electronic DAACI drum samples in v0.3.4. This allows N-Drums to be used as a VST/AU Instrument that produces MIDI and Audio, making the workflow neater for DAWS such as Ableton Live, Cubase, Reaper, whilst maintaining the possibility of using your own instruments with the MIDIFX version of N-Drums. (There are more samples on the way!)
      • GarageBand compatibility. The new N-Drums instrument feature means the plugin is now compatible with GarageBand. Compatibility might still be rough around the edges, as it's early days, so let us know if there are any issues. Read about how to use Natural Drums with GarageBand.
      • Offline mode! Users told us they prefer to work offline sometimes. On a plane? In a studio with no internet? Now you only need to be online to authenticate once every two months, and you can keep enjoying Natural Drums without internet connection in between authentications.
      • Audio export. Now in the instrument version of Natural Drums you can drag and drop audio directly to the DAW or Desktop.
      • More presets. Users told us they love the presets and we've had some requests for more. We've added more built-in presets so that you have more patterns to experiment with. Look out for three Para-Grooves, plus Allelujah Brother, Hats Off Groove, Funky Leader, President James, Squid Pies, Swiftly Off and Tommy Fillhigger all now included in the Natural Drums presets!

      Bugfixes

      • We fixed a bug related to having more than one instance of N-Drums open at the same time. It could lead to artefacts in the UI.
      • We've added better error messages during authentication. If something goes wrong, it's good to know what went wrong.
      • We fixed a bug related to note lengths. This would only affect samplers that use an envelope, but would not be an issue for samplers that work with one-shot samples.

      v0.1.8.1 (Beta) 7/03/2024

      Bugfixes

      • Restore compatibility with older Mac Operating Systems. Changes in v0.1.8 were causing the plug-in to crash instantly on opening, on macOS versions between 10.15 and 11.
      Thanks to our users especially Scott, Aaron, Peter, Michael, & George for helping us troubleshoot this.

      v0.1.8 (Beta) 26/02/2024

      Improvements

      • Persisted “Shuffle every loop“ with the DAW project as well as with the presets.

      • Prevented user created presets from having the same name as built-in presets. It was confusing. We changed this.

      • Added a bit of colour to the installer. It was boring.

      Interface Improvements

      • New style radio buttons. Pretty!

      • Added some tooltips, to help you find the best way to use features.

      • We changed the presets button. You now have the ability to see the current preset and scroll through all the presets.

      • We changed the global shuffle button. When ‘Shuffle every loop' is enabled, the shuffle icon changes to also show an infinity symbol.

      • Better error messaging around authentication. When your license key doesn’t work, we now tell you why!

      • We now show you an error message on unsupported preset files. If you tried to load a preset that was incorrect for some reason it would just silently not work…now we tell you.

      • We changed the way tooltips behave on the sliders. We now don’t show tooltips with the numeric value on inactive sliders.

      • Added shadows to the yellow and orange toggles and the skeleton input.

      • Made the rotary sliders style coherent with the rest of the interface.

      • Added the ability to reset the dials. Now when you double-click a dial it resets to default (except the main velocity ones).

      Bugfixes

      • Fixed the glitch sound on the first beat on Cubase.

      • Introduced some constraints to the installer

        • The installers will only work in MacOS greater than 10.15 (inclusive)

        • The installers targeting Silicon will not work on Intel Machines

      • Improve thread safety in the Plugin.
