Melody

  • Grid: Similar to the bass grid but with more notes; used to create melodic shapes.
  • Bars: Select the pattern length (repeats every bar or every two bars).
  • Beats: Choose between eighth notes or sixteenth notes. Sixteenth notes result in busier rhythms.
  • Add/Delete Notes: Above the grid, there are two modes: a musical note icon for adding notes and a bin icon for deleting notes. Click on the grid to add notes or, after selecting the bin, click on existing notes to remove them. You can also drag lines to paint in multiple notes.
  • Melodic Shape: The notes on the grid represent the melodic contour. The top is high; the bottom is low. Thicker lines at the top, middle, and bottom indicate the root note of the key (melodically “home”).
  • The melody played will adapt to the current chords, ensuring it always sounds good while maintaining the programmed melodic shape.
